After 30 years of membership in Porsche Club of America and SCCA, the Junkyardog was created. It started as line drawings on a platform on the garage floor. After years of research and drawing, a engineered frame and suspension was layed out in 4130 Chrome Moly steel, with round and square tubing and aluminum sheet panels. Cutting and welding of the frame was the physical starting point. Attaching all the suspension parts (coil over springs), plumbing and driveline associated parts was installed next. Engine (stock 914 2 liter) and transaxle (close ratio gears) were installed 6" closer to the center of the car for better weight balance (same as stock wheelbase and track). From there to the wiring harness, from scratch, to monitor all needed activities. The steel roof and door frames from a 1965 912 Porsche were utilized to start the body work. It was channeled and sectioned to allow the 39" overall finished height. Doors, windows, fenders, bumpers and wings are fiberglass and formed plastic painted in German Silver 2 part paint. Interior appointments then came with 2 race seats and 4 and 5 point harnesses. A complete new dash was formed for the guages and a removable steering wheel. Originally the wheels and tires were 7"x15" with cantilivered Goodyear slicks, went then to more successful, presently installed front 7"x15" Porsche aluminum cookie cutters and Centerline aluminum 10"x15" rears. These are fitted with Yokohama sticky race slicks same as used on the Formula Atlantic open wheeled cars.
This car is now very capable of high G forces and is extremely quick. It comes with extra tires and a open single axle trailer. $10,500. or best offer.
